
Louis has been thinking a lot about North Entry stands and that the vast majority of designs we see at Waterfall for North Entry are severely compromised. At Waterfall you can only have 35% of your street boundary solid so there are privacy issues when you position the house at the back and the garden and pool in the front. There is also a tendency for designs to put the garages at the back of the stand. This means that a huge percentage of the stand is given over to driveway. This is both expensive and reduces the available space for the home and garden.

Louis idea is to essentially wrap the house around the garden and to make the street side of the house a low single story so that the bedrooms still get the benefit of views. This is what we have done with 1141 Waterfall Country Estate and the result is a home which will an absolute dream for the entertainer who loves having functions involving the whole family. You enter the house through a central walkway and once through the whole area opens up and you can see the pool and garden, entertainment area, boma and games room. Downstairs is relatively open plan and it will be possible for people to interact between the different zones. We can also expect that the whole garden will be shielded from wind so the number of days on which you can benefit from an outdoor lifestyle are going to be even greater.
Another highlight is the way the garden spaces work. At the front of the house we would have a show garden, with large trees and beds. In the enclosed garden we would have a more formal garden with all plants in pots or planters. At the back of the house is the grass play area where the children will play and things like jungle gyms and trampolines can be kept out of sight.
The reception for this design at the Waterfall Home Show was phenomenal and we have decided to take this project forward and will look to begin construction as soon as the approvals process is complete. Home should be on the market around this time next year.
